Strengthening of Networking and Advocacy Work of EED-Partners in Indonesia
June 2009 – Februari 2011
Programs:
1. Development and Management of a Website
The BoC will develop a website as a media for communication for EED-partners in Indonesia to share with others their working experience in advocacy and with their communities. This website will display actual information, success stories and documentation by audio and visual means on partners’ activities. The activity will start from the development of a website system, learning about the working pattern of a website for information sharing among EED-partners.
2. National Meeting of EED-Partners
The meeting will comprise direct learning experiences between EED-partners and their target groups based on success stories of the community and the partner organization. The title of National Meeting will be: “Adaptation of Climate Change, HIV/AIDS and Trafficking in the Perspectives of Gender Justice and Pluralism”. It is planned that this meeting will be held in Jakarta for 3 – 4 days.
The methods will consist of: (1) Partners’ Learning Corners: meetings and sharing of learnings based on success stories in the community, (2) Paralel Fora: there are 5 competent resourcepersons who will be invited to this forum.
It is envisaged that at the end of the National Meeting a “Partners’ National Declaration” on Climate Change, Gender Justice, HIV/AIDS, Trafficking and Pluralism related to development policies at local, national and global level is issued. The Declaration will aim at conveying partners’ positition towards government policies related to local, national and global issues whichimpact negatively on the life of marginalized communities in Indonesia. It is also for raising support for the advocacy work of national and international NGOs so that they have a common perspective on the impact of various development policies at the community level. Through this Declaration, it is hoped that EED will get a deeper understanding on these issues which can be used for the lobby work of EED towards the German government, German public and communities.
It is expected that 300 participants will actively involve in the national meeting, consisting of all EED partners and representatives of the target groups. Besides the participants will share their success stories and experiences in the advocacy work they will also display information on their work and the products they are producing in the different regions.
In addition it is planned to hold a side event (in form of a workshop) during the National Meeting on the Regulation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs No. 38/2008 with regard to NGOs which receive Foreign Funding. There will be resource person(s) who clarify the implementation of this regulation in different regions. This workshop also aims at finding out to what extent the EED partners are able to do lobby and advocacy towards the government at the national level.
3. Sharing of experiences between partners
This planned activity will cover the exchange of learning on crosscutting issues which are based on the capacity development needs of all partners and their communities by inviting or visiting other partner organizations for sharing of experiences. The exchange is based on the issues which are explored by the BoC, such as democratization, rural development, gender, HIV/AIDS and trafficking.
Every Coordinator of the Sectoral Groups (Rural Development, Gender, HIV/AIDS and Democratization) will map the needs of partners on the issues which need to be strengthened in their organizations and communities. After that the BoC will organize the activities. These activities will be included in the working agenda of the respective organization of the BoC.
